The diplomat serves as an envoy on behalf of the political echelon and is entrusted with representing the interests of the sending country to the host country. The diplomat is the eyes, ears, and voice of their country, and must translate national interests and values into creating and maintaining connections abroad. Diplomats are not authorized to dictate policy, and they perform their duties according to the directives of their senders, the statesmen.
