Psychotechnical test of the first order
The psychotechnical test carried out as part of the first order before conscription into the IDF is a comprehensive test that examines the cognitive skills and personality abilities of the candidates for service. The test includes chapters dealing with verbal ability, understanding instructions, abstract thinking, spatial perception, mathematical thinking and more. The results of the test, together with other parameters such as a personal interview, help determine the personality and cognitive profile of the candidate. According to this profile, a quality group (kaba) score is determined, which is later used to assign recruits to appropriate units and positions. The test is conducted at the Bakum (Manpower Screening and Classification Center), as part of the initial screening process prior to conscription into the IDF.
Psychotechnical tests for work
The use of psychometric tests as a tool for the diagnosis and selection of job applicants has gained significant momentum in recent years due to the ability to assess candidates in their homes and in most cases before they arrive for a job interview at the organization. Many employers see them as an effective means of assessing the skills of candidates and predicting their success in the required role. The tests examine a wide range of abilities such as general intelligence, understanding of instructions, verbal ability, logical-mathematical thinking and more, in accordance with the specific job requirements. The test results, along with additional tools such as interviews and work experience, help employers assess the candidate's suitability for the role and the organizational culture. It is customary to use nines (1-9) to assess skills and sevens (1-7) to rate personality traits. Most systems also provide a summary recommendation in percentiles (relative score) that reflects the candidate's position relative to the relevant reference population.
